I have just read an article in the paper about some boofhead from Melbourne, who wrote a book about saving money. Now I am all for saving money, as my family can attest to. They think I am a tight wad. Now I am not going to give this goose any more publicity, so I will not be mentioning his name or book, I will just call him Paul.
Here is Paul’s guide to saving money.
Avoid family gatherings such as birthdays, Christmas and Easter
Limit your MATES and ditch any friends who tend to live beyond their means.
Don’t Volunteer for anything, it will cost you money.
Ignore special days such as Mothers day, Fathers day etc. They are just marketing traps
Don’t buy toys for your children and dress them in hand me downs
Have a weekly blackout night to save electricity.
Never be super sized, always buy the standard, and never get 2 for 1 deal’s.
In Part 1 of my story I told you how I was in Mt Isa when my World Cup dream started to materialise. Well, next week I return to Mt Isa for the same Expo I attended 4 years ago, (in fact every year since as well). You could say that I have fond memories of Mt Isa, but you would be wrong. I have many fond memories of leaving many of our outback towns in a plane, but leaving Mt Isa is the memory I hold dearest.
As the path to South Africa 2010 heats up I will have plenty to think about on the 2hr flight to Brisbane next Friday. 4 years ago it was all new to me, but this time I have my memories to draw from, and the Socceroos have a new path to follow through Asia.
Do you want Cheap Phone calls from your Mobile phone when you are next overseas? Either calling back home or finding your mate in that bar around the corner that you just can’t seem to find.
Did you know that when you ring your mate around the corner, you are actually making an international call back to Australia then an International call to the country you are in. Also your mate will pay for receiving that call.
Wouldn’t you rather be spending your hard earned cash on sampling the local brew or just having fun whilst following the Socceroos?
I have just found out about TravelSIM. You purchase an International SIM card which is yours for life and all you do is add credit to it. It will work in most phones and works in 144 countries. (Unfortunately not in Qatar where some of you Aussies may be heading in June.) But in Bahrain the call rate is a flat 60 cents per minute and free to receive calls. Check out their web site for what countries it works in.
There is plenty of accommodation in Brisbane it is just a matter of finding it for the price you want to pay, and close enough to Suncorp Stadium so you don’t have to travel for ever to watch the Socceroos. You need to determine the following.
Here is some flight information from Sydney and Melbourne to Brisbane. You may want to make a weekend out of it and fly up on Friday or Saturday. Check out Flight Centre for flights from other Cities. I have listed the cheapest fares for the days at this point in time with a first flight time and a last flight time for the day. There are multiple flight times available in between this time range.

The Home End will be a Category C Ticket as it is behind the Goals. Again, I stress this will be where the passionate supporters will STAND throughout the entire match. It will be the best atmosphere in the Stadium, but if you want to use your seat during the match, you are better off buying your ticket elsewhere.
The World Cup 2010 Qualifiers are under way as we all know and it is time to fire up people. A convincing 3-0 win over Qatar and a great 0-0 result away to China has the Socceroos at the top of Group 1. We now turn our attention to the 4 matches in June.
The FFA today announced that Brisbane will host the next match against Iraq on Sunday June 1st and then to Sydney for the final match against China on Sunday June 22nd. As a Gold Coaster I have no excuses to miss out on the Suncorp match and how could I miss watching in probably the Best Venue in Australia to watch Football in. I would like to think that a capacity crowd of 52,500 will attend and cheer on the Socceroos. And just try keep me away fromANZ stadium in Sydney, I will be there with bells on.
What do you need?

A place to Drink
I will start with Tickets and Drinking now and get back to you on flights and accommodation in the next few days.
The Best Night of My Life, look getting married and having children are fantastic experiences and ones I will treasure for the rest of my life. But nothing compares to the pure adrenalin charged night that was November 16, 2005.
The Build Up
Organise Flights - Jetstar.
Tickets - E-mailed mates in Sydney. Heffo and the Mighty Engadine Eagles came to the rescue. Row 16 behind the Northern Goals.
Accommodation - Again Heffo to the rescue with a bed at his place.
The first game was in Montevideo on November 12, and a hard fought match saw Uargay win 1-0. But this was a significantly better performance than 4 years before when Tony Vidmar’s tears touched us all I am sure.
Today marks 800 days until the World Cup kicks off on June 11, 2010, and i am a little excited. 4 years ago i did not know how many days but I was just as excited about planning my trip. I eventually added a countdown timer to my desktop both at home and work so i knew exactly how many days.
Obsessive??
Is that obsessive?? perhaps. Veronica and my kids certainly thought so as did my co workers, but hey, i really did not care. I was planning the biggest trip of my life and i wanted to be excited. After all the FIFA World Cup of Football is the single biggest sporting event on the Planet and i wanted to watch the Socceroos there.
